BEE POLICY

SAB Smart Meters is an Exempted Micro Enterprise which supports the use of
BBBEE suppliers, with the aim of supporting equity in our South African economy.

MANAGEMENT SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

SAB Smart Meters believes that its employees are the most important assets, and that all its employees have the right to a safe and healthy working environment in which they can safely perform their tasks. However, SAB Smart Meters also believes that all its employees have a moral and legal responsibility to do everything that is reasonably practicable to protect their own safety and health as well as that of those working with and around them.

SAFETY AWARENESS

 SAB Smart Meters will take all possible precautions to ensure that any work
done is done in a safest possible way. This includes work in our workshop and
on site. We will attend all Safety Training Courses specified by the Client.
 All SAB Smart Meters employees are informed on continuous basis of our
Safety and Health policy and our long-term plan of zero injuries.
 Formal safety meetings with own employees will be carried out on an ongoing
basis.

RISK ASSESSMENT AND SAFE WORKING PROCEDURE

 SAB Smart Meters will adhere to the clients’ safe working procedures.

INCIDENT AND INJURY INVESTIGATION

 SAB Smart Meters Management and Supervisors will ensure all injuries, of
whatever severity, and that near misses are reported to the Client as soon as
possible, using the Clients Systems and Documentations.
 SAB Smart Meters will identify all contributory factors and implement specific
actions to correct and prevent a recurrence. These actions will be agreed upon
with the Client.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

 Do everything possible to protect the Safety and Health of its employees.
 To comply with all relevant Statutory Health Legislation.
 To comply with the Clients Safety and Health Requirements and Procedures.

SUPERVISORS & SAFETY OFFICER’S RESPONSIBILITY

 Ensure Safe working procedures are followed in the execution of the work.
 Ensure the employees understand that, whatever type of work has to be
carried out is done in the safest possible way.
 Performing proper risk assessments before starting any task – considering the
risks involved and the necessary precautions to be taken.
 Ensure all works is carried out to comply with Client’s Safety and Health
Requirements.
 Performing of daily toolbox and regular safety talks.

WORKERS RESPONSIBILITY

 Employees must abide by all instructions given by SAB Smart Meters (Pty)
Ltd Management and Supervision, relating to Safety and Health issues.
 To do everything possible to protect their own Safety and Health.
 To report any unsafe situation and condition to their supervisor as soon as
possible for action.

QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL

SAB Smart Meters is totally committed to Quality Assurance, which forms a crucial part of our operating system and is based on the SABS 0152, part 1 (ISO 9002) procedure. Our long-term plan is to implement and have an audited system in place. We are committed in working closely with our clients adhering to their quality requirements and schedules. Third party inspection is available as and when required. All relevant documentation is maintained at the required level for traceability and compliance with client requirements.
